Santuri East Africa’s DJ Rachael will be among creatives who will gather in Accra, Ghana between 26 and 27 April for the Impact Music Conference. The conference brings together creators, record labels, content platforms and creative entrepreneurs to discuss how to make best use of digital tools when working in the music industry.
The conference which will mark its third edition will focus on women who are making waves in music. Since inception the Impact Music Conference aims at developing a space to discuss, act, share, learn and understand that space called the Music Industry, and how to create equal opportunities for women in this sector.
A trail blazer in her own right, DJ Rachael has been on the music scene for more than 20 years. In July 2016, she Uganda’s celebrated 20 years of her craft. She will participate in panel discussions and share her experience as a co-founder of Femme Electronic Uganda, a platform that seeks to bridge the gender gap in the East African music scene while promoting the work of female DJs and Producers.
Her success with the Femme Electronic Uganda has inspired the birth of Femme Kenya Electronic which has recently announced ten up and coming female DJs that the platform will be promoting by way of training, workshops and residencies in Nairobi Kenya.
To be held at the Alliance Francaise in Accra, Ghana, the Impact Music Conference will bring together national and international artists, as well as professionals from the music sector, to celebrate music, while highlighting the importance of women and their equal access to the music industry.
