As Santuri continues to foster collaboration with different Artists – (musicians/DJs/Producers), Organizations/Companies and music enthusiasts around the East African region and beyond with the most recent project in Tanzania being the successful Frente-Cumbiero with Mario Galeano from Colombia; this time around, we shall be taking over Arusha working with Okoa Mtaa Foundation and Alliance-Francais to provide knowledge to the eager DJs and Producers in the town through a series of events that include a workshops  led by Tanzania’s well known producer Akula Akwabi (Dunga) from ManduguDigital and the unstoppable DJ Rachael from Kampala, Uganda.

The 2 day workshops scheduled to take place during the 23rd and 24th July, will focus on recording traditional sounds, mixing and mastering live sounds. The sessions are expected to ultimately create 2 tracks that will later be remixed and re-interpreted using Ableton and Native Instruments hardware and software.

Santuri DJs will take over the after-parties and rock audience with that great Santuri music and other sounds from the region and beyond at 2 events organized by our Arusha partners mentioned above. On Friday 24th, Santuri DJs will be playing at Afadhali Night – an incredible Afro-fusion musical experience put together by Alliance-Francaise Arusha and following day – Saturday, we shall be with our friends from Okoa Mtaa Foundation at their great-cause event aimed at saving Underground Hiphop in Tanzania S.U.A. during the day and at their after-party set to blaze the Masai Camp’s turf later that night.

The organizers of these exciting events have had a great relationship since Santuri began in 2014 but there has never been a joint initiative at this capacity so we are very positive about what is going to come out of it. Arusha has an active cultural vibe influenced by tourism, the Masai society and that ‘hardcore’ underground hip hop scene so we are very thrilled to establish our presence there.
