Santuri East Africa and CDEA are proud to announce the screening of two short films and a discussion on Colombian music with Mario Galeano Toro.
Mario is an acclaimed musician, composer and ethnomusicologist from Botoga, and is visiting East Africa with the support of the Colombian Embassy in Nairobi and Santuri. Mario has performed all over the world with his FRENTE CUMBEIRO and ONDRATROPICA projects, and is considered to be at the forefront of Colombia’s new cumbia movement.
The two films are “SABROSO! A Road Trip to Colombia’s Caribbean Coast” which highlights some of the many amazing musical scenes happening in the country, and a mini documentary on Mario and his use of new technology in reinterpreting classic Colombian sounds. Both films were made with the support of Native Instruments, a Berlin based music Technology Company.
Mario will also give a talk on Colombian music and lead a question and answer session, while sharing some sounds from his homeland.
This screening is part of a week of events Mario is taking part in with Santuri East Africa. Click here for more information about the screening session with Mario
