“The Embaire” – a Uganda based initiative based around an oversized xylophone played by almost an entire village.
The aim of this project is to promote the instrument and players and explore how traditional culture and heritage can be used in a contemporary context. Santuri Sounds and Soundthread have started a dialogue with their community about how contemporary producers should be interacting with cultural heritage.
Any proceeds are going to go back into building a visitors centre in the village.
