Santuri returns to Sauti za Busara this weekend, and will be celebrating its first birthday over the course of the weekend with a series of events around the island. Exactly one year ago, the Santuri Safari project was born in Zanzibar when around 30 artists, DJs, producers, sound engineers, curators, and arts professionals joined together for a pilot project taking in seminars, co-creation sessions, sunset parties and main stage after parties.
Fast forward 12 months and the project has gone from strength to strength, taking in festivals all over the East Africa region, and developing a network that now has a global reach. Sauti za Busara 2015 is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the last year, and push on towards new highs over the next months. That’s why we are delighted to have had the chance to work with Mim Suleiman, one of the original inspirations for the Santuri project, and Santuri will be supporting her performance on the main stage on Saturday 14th.
As such, if you’re coming to Zanzibar this week, you’ll be able to check out the following Santuri – related events:
Feb 13th – Santuri Sundowner at Six Degrees South, Zanzibar – 5pm 8pm, and 930pm til late, featuring Esa Williams, Tendwa, Dark Meme, David Tinning and more.
Feb 14th Mim Suleiman and Santuri Band – main stage, Old Fort, Busara (8.20pm)
Feb 15th – Santuri Sunday Brunch Chillout – Upendo, East Coast Zanzibar, 12pm – 4pm. Santuri DJs
Feb 15th – Santuri Safari Film Premiere, Old Fort Amphitheater, Busara, 9pm
Feb 17th – Santuri DJs Coral Rock Hotel, Jambiani, East Coast.
Plus various unannounced appearances at after parties, no doubt.
Looking forward to seeing some of the people that have been on this wild ride with us!
